Also, I hate giving bad reviews, because what if the author reads it? I mean, they'll have to learn to deal with it sometime, because everyone gets bad reviews, but I don't like doing it.2 It makes me feel mean. But I have a duty3 to tell the truth, and if I think a book is bad... I have to say so.
On another note-- I want to do the A-Z Reading Challenge! I'll be doing it by title, so I need book suggestions... anyone?
1Actually, I'm not ashamed of this. I believe that you should at least read the thing before you hate on it. Otherwise, you're just blindly criticizing it, and that's just as bad as loving it. Also, know thine enemy.
2Not very evil of me, I suppose.

yeah, i tend to try to avoid giving bad reviews. because people get angry. and when i read really bad reviews of books i loved, i get p*ssed.
*looks back at fond memory of some long, rambling comment i left on a random site that hated City of Bones*
hmmm....book suggestions....see, unlike for my friends, who're like Holly Black? Melissa Marr? never heard of em, this is actually difficult because i need to dig into more obscurity.
ummm....
---Homefree by Nina Wright (+ sequel Sensitive) teen with crazy home life has superpowers, secret organization, lots of cool non-obvious talents, short but awesome.
---Wereling Trilogy by Stephen Cole (that's Wounded, Prey, Reckoning) bloodthirsty werewolves chasing people. also, awesome dialouge. and sarcasm. and gangs. and romantic tension. and cities.
---Thieves Like Us/Thieves While We Die by the same guy is also pretty good, but not as excellent, and some of the characters are kind of pervs, but the girls kick ass and defend themselves. and the ending of the second one is fairly hilarious.
---Nine Lives of Chloe King? ummm...random, kind of fluffy, but i associate them with Wereling for some reason. girl with secret cat powers and two boyfriends in San Fransisco. falls off a multi-story building and survives. actually, these were pretty good, if girly. The Fallen, The Stolen, The Chosen, i believe.
hmmmm....i shouldn't try book recs this early in the morning. ow.
sorry if you've read any/all of these already, and a warning, i might be back with more later.
also, there's always that mega-huge List i posted on my LJ a while ago. those're always awesome.

just kidding. at least he finally got a title for part three of his "cycle".
I just saw the whole Brisingr thing the other day... totally screwed the whole pattern up (each title starts with E and is 6 letters long... it was supposed to be called Empire) and I could have sworn it was going to be green too....*sigh*
funny, i suspected green too. and Empire would have been much better.
OH CHRISTOPHER PAOLINI! IS NOTHING SACRED?! NOT GIMMICK TITLES OR COLOR COMBINATIONS? NOTHING?
Good luck with the A-Z. Hopefully some day I will finish mine!
I tried Gossip Girl once and for some reason, really didnt like it. I've just started reading Little (Grrl) Lost by Charles de Lint, and really like it. Im also a huuge Holly Black fan, dark fantasy in general is right up my alley.
A through Z? Here are a few suggestions...
Cast Two Shadows, and Finishing Becca, both by Ann Rinaldi.
Blood Red Horse, by K.M. Grant
A Voice From the Border, by Pamela Smith Hill
The Seer and the Sword, by Victoria Hanley
The Rope Trick, by Lloyd Alexander
Hollow Kingdom trilogy, by Clare Dunkle
The Goose Girl, Enna Burning, River Secrets, The Princess Academy, all by Shannon Hale
